Joseph Grice is an illustrator and wildlife artist residing in Jamestown, NY. A majority of his work consists of watercolor bird illustrations that are heavily influenced by Roger Tory Peterson, but also bridge the gap between scientific study and fine art. Growing up, his appreciation for nature and wildlife led him to becoming interested in learning about birds and having them primarily featured in many of his paintings. “I feel as though birds are like living paintings. The animals themselves are works of art, and also represent a type of freedom that I think many people can appreciate.” 

Joseph is a multi-disciplined artist that not only works in watercolor, but also oils, charcoal, acrylic, and digital. He earned his BFA from SUNY Fredonia. He spent time teaching art in Jamestown, and later at a private art studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has displayed work in solo and group shows in WNY and in North Carolina. Currently, he is working on wildlife commissions and design work at his studio in Jamestown.
